Full Job Description
Position Summary
  • The primary function of a Safety Manager is responsible for managing the safety and compliance programs in a defined geographic area.
  • This includes monitoring programs, conducting training sessions, promoting policies and processes for safety along with adherence to state and federal guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, and EPA.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the local managers and employees Help identify physical, behavioral, and cultural exposures that could lead to loss Promote safe and healthy working conditions Help develop a culture to support company safety objectives Coordinate investigation of major accidents and losses and develop strategies to address root causes Help yards identify sources for safety related equipment and training materials Participate on a regular basis and periodically conduct weekly safety meetings and training sessions Routinely observe and document safe and unsafe vehicle conditions and driver behaviors by riding with or behind company vehicles while traveling to and from job sites utilizing the appropriate checklists or apps Routinely visit job sites for the purpose of identifying hazards and observing deliveries while completing the

  • Identify training needs through previous losses, employee concerns, industry mishaps, and near misses Conduct property and vehicle inspections as required Provide safety recognition programs for yards and individuals demonstrating exemplary safety emphasis and results Participate in the review of new locations, acquisitions, additions, and modifications from a safety perspective Remain a technical expert and technical resource for safety, loss prevention, risk management, OSHA, DOT, and other related disciplines. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards Remain current and fully informed about regulatory legislation Assist in the development, reformat, and/or deployment of policies and programs as requested and recommend changes as needed Complete an official Yard Audit Report at least quarterly for each responsible yard Track and follow-up with all open action items until properly completed for each yard Submit yearly personal safety goals and monitor progress against goals via monthly reports, proper scheduling, and time management skills Complete a monthly status report detailing previous month's activities

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Strong Microsoft office skills

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office and warehouse environment 50% of the time. Will frequently move about inside the office and warehouse
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
