Full Job Description
Job Objective:

The Safety Manager is a leading performer that will execute organizational safety programs to prevent injuries and work-related health conditions and comply with applicable regulatory requirements. This role plays a key role in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

Analyze and classify risks and losses and measure financial impact upon the company.

Design and direct programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long term health hazards.

Train employees and management in safety practices.

Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine causes and preventive measures.

Review plans and specifications for construction or purchase of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.

Conduct safety audits, record, and rate severity level, and assign responsibility for corrective actions.

Coach site-specific leadership team on the expectations, tools, and implementation of the Safety Management System.

Track and monitor SMS level specific KPI's.

Create and continually improve SMS specific training such as Supervisor Hazard identification/Mitigation, Supervisor Safety Communication Skills, Roles, and Responsibilities.

Ensure the integrity of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.

Performs other duties as needed.

Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.

6-8 years of job-related experience or equivalent education and/or experience.

Safety training and certificates preferred.

Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.

Competencies:

Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.

Recognized cross-functionally as an expert within one or two subject matter areas.

Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.

Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player and able to handle multiple projects at once.

High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
