Responsibilities

  • Conduct facility assessments to identify improvement areas and lead corrective actions.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Wastewater Treatment Plant compliance and coordinate safety program updates.

What you will enjoy doing*

  • You will build, and drive, a proactive safety culture at plant to create environment where employees and supervision are engaged in working safely, and to implement, support and manage safety programs
  • This position will prepare, maintain, and comply with federal, state, and local agency environmental reporting and permitting and Corporate EHS Standards
  • You will advise on all EHS legislation and legal requirements
  • Further, you will ensure facility maintains ongoing compliance with OSHA/EPA requirements, safety standards, wastewater treatment plant operations, air permits and waste management practices
  • Serve as the interface with local, state and federal agencies
  • The Safety Manager investigates injuries/illnesses, near-misses and environmental incidents to determine root cause of incidences and provide corrective action plan, manages and tracks injury and illness data and environmental metrics and leads reduction in injury and illness rates and environmental impact and costs
  • You will develop and implement EHS programs, policies, procedures and best practice techniques, implement new regulatory requirements, and provide control measures that reduce or eliminate risks to the Company. Implement and maintain an EHS Management Systems. Oversee and optimize EHS training programs
  • Additionally, you will conduct EHS assessments at the facility, identify areas for improvement, and lead corrective actions (from plant and corporate/3rd party audits)
  • This position serves as Subject Matter Expert for Wastewater Treatment Plant compliance and management and outlines specific safety programs and coordinates, reviews and updates plans such as the plant's Emergency Plan, Hazardous Material Contingency Plan, Hazardous Waste Plan, LEI's, Emission Plan, etc., ensuring objectives are met

  • Preferred candidate will have knowledge / experience in industrial hygiene and or environmental compliance
