Full Job Description
Safety Manager to join our team in Champlin, Minnesota. The Safety Manageris responsible for overseeing and contributing to all aspects of the health and safety function and supporting risk management activities across multiple Egan Company business groups and projects. This role will lead and partner with Operations leadership, Project Managers, Superintendents and Field Leaders. You'll be part of an energetic and experienced safety team that leads Egan Company's safety, health, and risk management programs.

The Safety Manager role will collaborate, mentor and build relationships with our staff and tradespeople - leadership to apprentices.
Responsibilities
  • Align and implement Egan Company Health and Safety programs and loss prevention initiatives among multiple business groups and construction projects.
  • Assist, plan, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Advise operations leadership on safety performance; strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Assist and maintain required reports and records to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Engage and partner with Project Teams to facilitate planning and execution of our work safely.
  • Conduct post-incident investigations and prepare report(s) identifying possible causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior leadership.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations leadership with respect to safety and loss prevention goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
  • Explore, research, adopt new products, programs and/or technology that will further enhance the company's safety and loss prevention performance.
  • Engage regularly with the field population to assist and monitor safety and loss prevention efforts.
  • Develop project leaders and field personnel through coaching, feedback, and continued training activities to assist in building the skills necessary to execute the work safely.
  • Create and deliver training opportunities to all levels of employment.
  • Support all new hire onboarding workflows; orientation, DOT, driver qualification.
  • Perform frequent job site evaluations, determine employee exposure(s) and institute acceptable work practices.
  • Evaluate incident patterns and trends and work with business groups to develop process and/or work activity adjustments to reduce risk.
  • Facilitate claims reporting and claims management with insurance and broker partners; worker's compensation, general liability, auto.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in safety-related field.
  • Possessing a CSP or ASP certificate will make you stand out for this role.
  • Five+ years experience in safety-related field, construction industry preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, as the role will require travel to various sites on a regular basis. Company vehicle or Auto Allowance will be provided.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA standards with regard to construction.
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate others.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leadership, managers, clients, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with other employees in English sufficiently to understand and be easily understood.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide sufficiently to perform standard mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to foresee events and anticipate changes in conditions and operations to the greatest extent possible and react to these appropriately.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions
  • Performance of duties in the office and on job sites, which will be as needed depending on workload and may require travel.
  • Performance of duties may frequently require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, and other physical demands related to being on a construction jobsite.

Pay Range: $90,000-$115,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus. Company vehicle or Auto Allowance will be provided for this role.

Hybrid: This role is eligible for our hybrid work model. To ensure a strong start, we ask for a minimum of 90 days in the office at the start to wrap your arms around the role, build essential in-person connections, and gain the organizational knowledge needed for success before transitioning to our hybrid schedule.
