Full Job Description
The Safety Manager will report to the Site ES&H Director and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing radiological and industrial safety programs and policies to ensure a safe work environment for pre-production and production activities. This role involves assessing workplace hazards, conducting safety training, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The role will integrate within an existing safety program to work closely with facility staff, management, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety and health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures to support regulatory compliance and safe facility operations
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to identify risks and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, and assist with implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors while maintaining training records and documentation
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including response planning, drills, and employee readiness training
  • Maintain safety records, reports, metrics, and compliance documentation; analyze trends and recommend program improvements
  • Support regulatory inspections and interface with external agencies as needed
  • Collaborate with operations and other departments to integrate safety practices into daily activities and promote a strong safety culture


Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related science or engineering field; a master's degree is a plus
  • Requires 5+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in a chemical processing facility
  • Requires extensive knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
  • Requires experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP) (related to OSHA and EPA requirements)
  • Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions
  • Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are preferred
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and effectively interface with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Company
  • Requires proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite
