Position Summary: The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing Barnhart's Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) programs. This role ensures regulatory compliance, mitigates operational risk, and promotes a proactive, company-wide safety culture. The Safety Manager partners closely with operations, leadership, and branch safety personnel to drive continuous improvement and protect our people, equipment, and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with the Company's Safety Program and all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead and manage the Company's Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain programs to ensure regulatory compliance related to safety and environmental protection.
- Perform operational risk assessments across company operations.
- Deliver safety and environmental training and development programs.
- Administer and oversee the Company's Safety Incentive Program.
- Report accidents, incidents, and safety metrics in accordance with company policy and corporate directives.
- Develop and present safety, security, health, and environmental reports for management review.
- Analyze accident data, training records, and safety metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Conduct accident and injury investigations, including report writing and root cause analysis.
- Support and assist Branch Safety Managers with accident investigations as needed.
- Conduct safety audits in accordance with company policy or as directed by the VP of Engineering and Technical Services.
- Participate in Accident Review Boards for all reportable injuries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Environmental Health & Safety management experience in the heavy construction or heavy industrial industry preferred.
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience with demonstrated success developing and implementing strategic, company-wide safety programs.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership capabilities.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
