The Site Safety Manager 2 supports the site team and ensures compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations while promoting a culture of safety excellence across solar construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Develop communication channels and safety teams to identify and address safety-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with all client contractual safety obligations (e.g., Solar Safety Checklist).
- Demonstrate full commitment to all roles and responsibilities of the Safety Manager.
- Attend required meetings, including POD, client meetings, and contractor kick-off sessions.
- Collaborate with the Training Manager to develop materials, presentations, and procedures for effectively communicating the Strata Safety Program.
- Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring staff in response to at-risk behaviors or non-compliance.
- Act as Safety Committee champion.
- Conduct routine safety observations to identify error precursors and leading indicators.
- Document audit findings in EHS Insight and communicate results to site leadership.
- Report all incidents, near misses, and good catches in a timely manner.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure proper follow-through of the reporting process.
- Track safety metrics, including lagging indicators, and share progress with project leadership.
- Encourage health and safety observations from all project team members to support the Safety Incentive Program.
- Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate health, safety, or security concerns.
Supervisory Responsibilities: - Provide guidance and promote professional development for assigned Safety Specialists.
- Ensure all assigned safety staff maintain up-to-date credentials.
Work Experience Requirements:- Health and safety experience in construction (solar preferred).
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes related to solar construction.
- Proven ability to assess health and safety risks and implement corrective actions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Education/Certifications- Bachelor's degree in safety or a related technical field with 1year of construction field experience.
- CSP certification (including CSP's required safety experience).
- CHST certification (including CHST's required safety experience).
- OSHA 500 certification (including OSHA 500's required safety experience).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (required).
- NFPA 70E training (preferred).

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:- Ability to walk job sites and perform inspections 70% of the workday under varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation).
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking for long distances.
- Visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected 20/20) necessary for identifying potential hazards.
