Salary Range or Starting Hourly Rate (provided by HR): $96,000 - $132,000 / year

Job Summary

The successful candidate will report to the Safety Health & Environmental Department Manager and will support the department's objective in providing a robust and responsive electrical safety program for the BNH team. This Electrical Safety will work with engineers, skilled craft, and other disciplines, to understand issues related to electrical systems and safety, and work as part of a team, to provide guidance and resolve issues across the complex.

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for oversight and maintenance of TOS Electrical Safety Program to include updates of electrical safety standards, policies & procedures, and processes that support the program. Develop, implement, and train personnel to site electrical safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for high-voltage electrical work, identifying potential hazards such as shock, arc flash, and arc blast, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate and support engineering for Arc Flash studies and assessment of varying size and complexity.
  • Serve as SME and consult on electrical safety issues across the complex, in accordance with site and industry standards, including but not limited to, OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E.
  • Participate on the Electrical Systems Committee.
  • Develop and manage Electrical PPE program to include oversight of approving, ordering, issuing/distributing, and tracking of PPE and program personnel.
  • Provide support, advice and assistance for projects and tasks involving electrical work.
  • Serve as electrical SME in mishap investigations.
  • Complete assignments to adhere to long-term goals set by management.
  • It is the condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5years of progressive experience in electrical safety, with a significant focus on high-voltage systems (e.g., power generation, transmission, distribution, or heavy industrial applications).
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of electrical equipment up to and including 161 kV systems.
  • Experience in the selection and use of electrical test equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols and concepts.
  • Experience in conducting Arc Flash Hazard Analysis using NFPA 70E and IEEE standards.
  • Experience in Electrical Safety and knowledge of associated safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, ASTM), working knowledge of the NEC, and demonstrated working experience on or around energized equipment in an industrial setting including proper PPE to ensure a safe work environment and personnel safety.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and write/edit documents such as safety rules, audit reports, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management, and customers.
  • Continuous learning of electrical safety related material, keeping up with current practices and requirements.
  • Certification as a Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar recognized electrical safety certification.
