Full Job Description
Position Summary: The Safety Engineer supports environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements while promoting a strong safety culture. This role focuses on identifying and mitigating risks, improving safety programs, and partnering with operations and leadership to reduce incidents and support safe, efficient manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can work independently and influence safety performance across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Support safety initiatives on the manufacturing floor, promoting a proactive and accountable safety culture and contributing to reductions in recordable incidents (TRIR) and lost time injuries
  • Identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards through inspections, audits, and risk assessments, driving measurable risk reduction
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs, policies, and procedures to improve safety performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulations; maintain audit readiness and support successful internal and external audits
  • Conduct incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and drive timely corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence
  • Analyze safety data and trends (e.g., TRIR, near misses, first aid cases) to identify risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies
  • Deliver and support safety training programs, contributing to increased employee engagement and compliance rates
  • Partner with supervisors and leadership to improve safety performance, accountability, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and compliance records to support regulatory and company requirements
  • Support environmental programs and compliance activities, including tracking and reporting environmental metrics as needed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance workplace safety, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency
  • Perform other related duties as needed


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements/Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field


Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environments with a focus on OSHA compliance
  • Experience supporting or developing and implementing safety programs and conducting incident investigations
  • Background in behavior-based safety, risk assessments, and/or industrial hygiene preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their practical application (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Proven ability to perform hazard assessments, support risk mitigation efforts, and conduct incident investigations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to drive results independently
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and PowerPoint
  • Experience delivering training and maintaining accurate documentation and compliance records
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment


Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting at a computer workstation and grasping a mouse
  • Occasional bending and twisting
  • Walking up to 4 hours per day
  • Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials
