What You Will Do:- Carry out safety case procedures, engineering evaluations, and operational change reviews for pipeline, facility, and storage assets.
- Lead technical discussions with collaborators to aid the development, implementation, and delivery of major programs, processes, and policies. These efforts directly enhance our Safety Case regime over time.
- Prepare safety case analyses and proposals.
- Assist in the creation of processes and documentation linked to Safety Case evaluations and corresponding suggestions and reports.
- Engage collaborators in technical discussions regarding safety case assessments.
Who You Are:- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university or college.
- Registered member with APEGA as P. Eng. in the Province of Alberta. If in the US, preference is to have a PE.
- 6 or more years of progressive and diverse pipeline, facility, and/or storage industry experience.
- Safety and engineering knowledge of pipelines systems and/or facilities/storage systems.
- Knowledge of the techniques and methods used to determine and analyze safety issues of importance and to make a judgment on the safety of a system (e.g. Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOPS), risk assessments, safety case).
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and concepts of safety and safety management applicable to pipelines and/or facilities (e.g. criteria for accepting risk).
Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
