Reporting directly to the VP, Facilities, this role is responsible for the oversight and coordination of EastRise's physical security, life safety, emergency preparedness, and related compliance programs. The position supports a safe, secure, resilient operating environment through incident management, emergency readiness, and risk mitigation in collaboration with key internal and external partners. The role will continuously evaluate the effectiveness of security and life safety programs, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and recommends strategic enhancements that align with organizational objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with additional hours required to meet business needs.
Locations: Home base of South Burlington or Montpelier, with some travel required to both locations and other EastRise branches.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
35% Administers and manages the testing of life safety and physical security systems. This includes but is not limited to overseeing security alarms, door access systems, surveillance systems, fire alarm, fire detection, fire suppression, means of egress, emergency power, elevators, and accessibility features. Partners with branches and vendors to coordinate certifications, audits, and compliance testing, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting regulatory requirements. Supports organizational emergency preparedness and business continuity planning in coordination with Facilities Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Human Resources, Information Security, and leadership. Leads security and life-safety risk assessments while independently evaluating and evaluates control effectiveness, recommends mitigation strategies, and supports risk reporting activities consistent with the organization's Enterprise Risk Management framework.
35% Develops, interprets, maintains and administers enterprise-wide security and life-safety policies and standards, exercising independent judgment regarding implementation and enforcement.
Develops, interprets, maintains, administers and exercises independent judgment regarding security procedures that establish appropriate measures for granting team members and visitors access to restricted areas, sensitive materials, and EastRise sites and grounds. Revises the security program based on facilities conditions, information systems security requirements, risk management and insurance expectations, enterprise risk assessments, regulatory requirements, and industry trends related to burglaries, larcenies, workplace violence, unauthorized access, and related physical security threats. Evaluates the operational, regulatory, financial, and reputational impact of identified risks and recommends corrective actions to leadership. Monitors security and life-safety risks within assigned areas of responsibility and escalate significant concerns through established Enterprise Risk Management reporting channels. Researches, budgets, and coordinates installation of surveillance systems, security technology equipment, door access systems, security hardware, fire alarm systems, and other life safety equipment for new and existing sites.
15% Supports investigations involving physical safety or security incidents, including suspicious activity affecting EastRise sites, accidents, unauthorized access, or other incidents within the role's assigned scope, to determine relevant facts. Direct and coordinates the collection, preservation, and analysis of security-related evidence and documentation. Obtains and preserves surveillance video, building access records, and other factual documentation to support internal departments, law enforcement, insurance claims, or external proceedings as appropriate. Provides pertinent physical safety and security information to the Fraud Department within Enterprise Risk Management upon request. Coordinates with ERM when communicating with external law enforcement agencies.
15% Manages contracted vendor coordination, evaluates vendor capabilities, negotiates service expectations, determines performance standards, and recommends vendor selection, continuation, or termination. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and performs other duties as assigned.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
7+ years of progressive responsibility and experience in physical security, life safety, and emergency preparedness. Experience managing security and life safety programs, coordinating audits and inspections, working with vendors and regulatory agencies, and supporting enterprise risk management activities. Demonstrated experience in physical security systems, access control, video surveillance, life safety systems, fire protection requirements, emergency preparedness, business continuity, regulatory compliance, and risk management principles. Ability to read blueprints and understand technical data is required.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. ASIS certification is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant experience will be considered.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondability, and Reference Checks required. (Motor Vehicle check dependent on position.) A valid driver's license is required.Travel to other branches or locations as required. Must embody EastRise' s Purpose, Guiding Principles and Cultural Guideposts. Must be able to lift/move items up to 75 pounds. Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs in emergency situations. Proficient in computer systems typical of an office environment and must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
