Summary

About the Position: Serve as technical expert on safety and occupational health criteria and requirements for the Environmental and Munitions Center of Expertise (EM CX).

Salary will be set for the duty station assigned at selection.

Duties

Help

• Provide technical guidance relating to acceptable safety and environmental procedures for the cleanup of properties containing ordnance and explosives.
• Responsible for the review of program and project documents to assure compliance with legal, regulatory and programmatic guidance.
• Advise team members on quality and explosives safety hazards related to the inspection and evaluation of ordnance and associated facilities, conveyances, and environments.
• Provide advice to project teams in the application of Quality Assurance procedures.
• Provide technical expertise regarding the proper storage, maintenance, handling, inspection and transportation of military munitions.
• Identify the need for new or revised guidance based changes in the methods and procedures necessary during project execution.
• Plan, program, and develop schedules to accomplish requirements within budgeted constraints.
• Provide programmatic and technical support for the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) mission.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing technical support for the development and application of complex technologies and techniques to support a Munitions Response Program; 2) reviewing program and project documents to assure compliance with legal, regulatory and programmatic guidance related to ordnance; 3) Plan and integrate activities pertaining to quality assurance for Munitions Response Program; and 4) interpret or advise on technical guidance involving safety and occupational health requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
