Job Responsibilities

This position is responsible for developing robust processes that consistently meet or exceed our customers' requirements for the metallurgical quality and performance of aerospace components. Also, continuous improvement of processes by improving methods and developing new methods of manufacturing, leading to increased yields and reduced labor content.
  • Part Qualification and Re-qualification - Determines and supports manufacturing requirements necessary to meet customer requirements; Assembles process documentation per customer requirements.
  • Process Development and Improvement - Monitors/analyzes yield, labor, and materials data to develop process improvement ideas for new and established processes.
  • Designs and conducts trials to better understand processes and materials. Uses results to reduce variability for customers.
  • Stays current with process technology related to process and materials, proposes new ideas to improve quality, reduce variability, and/or increase productivity.
  • Manufacturing Support - Monitors manufacturing output to ensure process control; Responds to manufacturing needs: training, work instructions and interpretation; Creates and updates work instructions needed to perform manufacturing processes.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with customers, suppliers, operations, and maintenance.
  • Works closely with suppliers to reduce variability and improve quality of incoming materials.
  • Creates funding requests including capital to maintain, upgrade, or add new equipment.
  • General Technical Support - Conducts meetings and provides technical data to meet customer needs.

EDUCATION

BS Ceramics, Chemical or Materials Engineering

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum two (2) years in ceramic process/material development or manufacturing
  • Experience in injection molding tool design, processing and project management required
  • Knowledge of molding processes and related support processes and secondary operations of plastics is preferred (molding, joining, and assembly methods)
  • Ability to read blueprints and knowledge or experience with 3D CAD software is desired
  • Proven interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, priority and time management, and records and information management skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of die casting concepts and techniques as well as project management experience is an asset.
