DATA SCIENTIST - RURAL HEALTH PROGRAMLeads advanced analytics, modeling, and data strategy activities supporting statewide rural health transformation initiatives. Develops predictive and prescriptive analytics to inform program strategy, provider performance improvement, and decision-making.
Designs and implements statistical models, machine learning approaches, and advanced analytical frameworks to assess provider performance, identify trends, and generate actionable insights. Supports development of performance metrics related to access, quality, financial sustainability, and workforce stability.
Collaborates with data, technical assistance, and program teams to translate complex datasets into meaningful insights for state leadership and provider audiences. Develops dashboards, analytical tools, and visualization products to support program monitoring and reporting.
Supports integration and management of multiple data sources, including program data, claims, operational metrics, and external datasets. Ensures data quality, consistency, and alignment with reporting requirements.
Provides technical guidance on data governance, analytics methodologies, and interpretation of results. Supports development of analytical documentation and contributes to audit-ready reporting environments.
Up to 25% travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications:- Master's degree in data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, health informatics, or related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, or data science, preferably in healthcare or public-sector environments.
- Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical analysis techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
- Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Experience working with healthcare data, including claims, clinical, or operational datasets preferred.
- Ability to translate complex analytical results into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting Medicaid, CMS, or federally funded programs preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$108,476.00 - $184,409.00
