The Phase Dock Manager oversees execution of all phase and progressive inspections, managing dock flow, manning, and task sequencing to meet contractual phase-cycle turn times. This position is responsible for pre-induction planning, parts and tooling readiness, and coordination with Quality Assurance for required inspections, functional checks, and operational checks throughout the phase. The Phase Dock Manager tracks discrepancies and over-and-above work, ensuring proper documentation in the maintenance information system and timely communication of emerging requirements to Production Control. They also drive continuous improvement of phase processes to reduce flow days while maintaining inspection integrity and airworthiness standards.
Responsibilities
- Phase Dock Operations Oversight: Supervise the flow of aircraft through the phase dock, coordinating inspections, maintenance, and repairs. This includes managing work orders, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Team Leadership: Supervise or assist maintenance teams, assign tasks, and ensure adherence to work instructions and quality control measures.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure all required inspections, repairs, and modifications are completed on time and to spec. This may involve coordinating with multiple work centers and/or departments.
- Documentation & Tracking: Maintain accurate records in the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) for all maintenance actions, discrepancy repairs, parts usage, and inspection results.
- Inspection & Quality Assurance: Lead or assist in detailed inspections, using checklists and technical directives, to detect defects, contamination, or wear before they affect safety or performance.
- Problem Solving & Efficiency: Identify bottlenecks in the phase dock process and implement improvements to reduce turnaround times.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA, ANSI, and other aviation safety standards, as well as unit-specific maintenance directives and aircraft maintenance manuals.
- Logistics & Parts Management: Track and manage parts inventory, coordinate procurement, and ensure availability of required components for inspections and repairs.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance actions, inspections, and repairs.
Qualifications
- Secret clearance or ability to obtain (preference given to those with clearance).
- U.S. citizen with a valid drivers license
- Must possess analytical abilities necessary to handle extremely complex administrative and organizational matters.
- Must deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
- Must have completed high school or equivalent.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
- 5 years in rotary-wing aircraft maintenance, preferably in a flight line or maintenance operations environment.
- Understanding of military aviation regulations, safety standards, and maintenance documentation.
- Experience managing maintenance schedules, resource allocation, and cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of aviation maintenance technician (AMT) or AFSC rotary-wing maintenance training.
- 10 years rotary wing maintenance experience.
- Previous experience as a phase dock manager.
