DESCRIPTION:
The Robotics Engineer will play a key role in designing, testing, and implementing unmanned aircraft, sea and ground systems that involve mechanical design and electronics. This role requires a deep understanding of both mechanical and electronic systems and a passion for innovation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Robotics Engineer will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the engineering team to design and develop new or improved products.
- Converting conceptual designs into functional prototypes using CAD software, 3D printing, and other prototyping tools.
- Integrating mechanical and electronic components to craft functional systems.
- Designing and developing firmware and program software as required.
- Setting up experiments to validate the design's performance and functionality.
- Documenting findings and recommending design improvements.
- Supporting production and field teams by actively troubleshooting mechatronic-related issues.
- Performing regular maintenance and updates on mechatronic equipment and systems.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of all design changes and outcomes.
- Preparing and presenting reports that detail progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Staying informed on the latest advancements in mechatronics and related technologies.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience designing and constructing unmanned systems, including integrating mechanical and electronic components.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electronics simulation tools.
- Demonstrated experience with microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and embedded programming (C, C++, Python).
- Proven ability to drive innovation and develop creative solutions to complex challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry advancements related to mechatronics and embedded systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the proven ability to work independently to overcome complex challenges while maintaining accountability for deliverables and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings effectively.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with unmanned systems and part 107 certificate.
- Comfortably operate in a lab and production environment.
- Understanding of current industry trends and best practices.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based collaborative resources such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
