Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Goods-to-Person Automation Engineer to support the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing improvement of automated warehouse solutions. This role combines industrial engineering, warehouse automation, software integration, and data analytics to develop high-performing fulfillment systems that improve throughput, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate understands both the physical automation systems and the software that powers them, working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, software development, vendors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & Solution Design
  • Design and optimize Goods-to-Person warehouse solutions including AS/RS, shuttle systems, robotic storage, conveyors, and order fulfillment technologies.
  • Analyze customer operational data to develop warehouse layouts, system sizing, and future-state automation recommendations.
  • Create functional specifications, process flows, and implementation documentation.
  • Support system simulations and throughput modeling.
Software & Systems Integration
  • Configure, support, and enhance Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Collaborate with software developers to integrate automation equipment with enterprise systems.
  • Assist with API integrations, database validation, and software testing.
  • Troubleshoot software and automation issues during implementation and production support.
Data Analytics & Operational Intelligence
  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and operational reporting for warehouse performance.
  • Build data validation and analytics workflows that improve customer data quality.
  • Analyze inventory movement, order profiles, storage utilization, and productivity metrics.
  • Support demand planning and scenario modeling for future warehouse growth.
Project Implementation
  • Support equipment commissioning and customer go-lives.
  • Perform system testing and validation prior to deployment.
  • Provide customer training and operational support during implementation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse performance through software enhancements and process optimization.
  • Evaluate new automation technologies and recommend implementation strategies.
  • Develop best practices for warehouse operations and automation performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with warehouse automation, material handling, or Goods-to-Person systems.
  • Experience with automated fulfillment technologies such as:
    • AS/RS
    • Shuttle systems
    • Goods-to-Person robotics
    • Conveyor systems
    • Sortation systems
  • Experience supporting WMS, WCS, or WES platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interpreting warehouse operational data.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to travel for customer implementations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with warehouse simulation tools (FlexSim or similar).
  • Experience with Python, SQL, REST APIs, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Experience developing dashboards using Power BI or similar BI tools.
  • Understanding of warehouse data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Experience with automated testing and software quality assurance.
  • Experience supporting large-scale fulfillment or distribution centers.
