Full Job Description
Garver is seeking a Transportation Roadway Team Leader to join our growing Team in San Antonio, Texas. They will be mentored and trained as seller-doers with opportunities to market our services, interact with the biggest transportation clients in Texas, and grow their career.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Roadway Team by managing workload and staffing needs, participating in recruitment, and hiring activities, and mentoring team members to promote professional development and career advancement.
  • Provide leadership and management of transportation design projects.
  • Client management, client interaction.
  • Develop project/task schedules for active projects.
  • Facilitate coordination with subconsultants and internal design team members.
  • Provide oversight of plans production for transportation design projects.
  • Prepare plans, cost estimates, reports, and calculations required for client deliverable packages.
  • Manage master contracts, task orders/work authorizations and project budgets.
  • Prepare scope and fee proposals.
  • Lead engagement and interaction with design teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Assisting the Business Team Leader with marketing efforts, including proposal writing, client interaction, and public engagements.

Technical experience should include:
  • Geometric design for roadways/interchanges
  • Drainage design
  • Construction sequencing and traffic control
  • Utility relocation coordination
  • Marketing activities may include assisting in the production of proposals and letters of interest, as well as participation in interviews and other presentations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas, or will have the ability to obtain reciprocity within three months of hire
  • 10-15 years or more years of relevant experience
  • Practical working knowledge of of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD), TxDOT Roadway Design Manual, TxDOT Standards, Details, and Specifications, and the Department of Justice ADA Standards for Accessible Design (ADAAG/PROWAG) Guidelines.
  • Experience with Microstation, Geopak, Open Roads Designer and/or other roadway design software
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team-first mentality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Requirements/Skills:
  • Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on TXDOT (or other DOT) transportation project design
