Description
This position assists in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the Road & Bridge Department. The Road Foreman is responsible for execution of road projects including effective use of heavy equipment consisting of equipment operators, truck drivers, and laborers. This class reports to the Road Superintendent. The schedule is Monday - Friday. Level and salary commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with supervising the overall administration and direction of road and bridge operations, including the maintenance and repair of roads and related facilities; the maintenance of vehicles and equipment; snow and ice removal; and other maintenance as needed
  • Communicate with the general public, other County employees, outside contractors, elected officials, or others
  • Supervises the use of and requires the skill to operate equipment and machinery used in maintenance and construction
  • Monitors equipment, supplies and parts inventories needed to support field activity. Recommends the appropriate types of materials required and the correct procedures to achieve desired results. Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies

Minimum Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of experience in highway maintenance and construction; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • North Dakota Class A Driver's License
  • Ability to assign, train, supervise, and evaluate employees
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical requirements and working conditions:
    1. Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
