About this unit4 South is a 44-bed Progressive Neurosurgical unit. In this role, you will play a key part in caring for both general neurology and complex neurosurgical patients.
Our neurosurgical population includes highly complex cases such as spine surgery patients and individuals undergoing craniotomy or craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal, or debulking. We also care for patients receiving elective aneurysm interventions.
Our general neurology patient population includes individuals experiencing acute stroke, seizures, chronic headaches, and other neurological disorders. These include conditions such as Guillain-Barré Syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis exacerbations.
Scope of workAssumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/ unit of the hospital. Some service lines may require the ability to be available for on-call to better support the nursing service/unit. Additionally, Inpatient Supervisors may be required to fill-in for the hospital supervisor as needed. Key responsibilities include assisting with the following: clinical support, unit-based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, performance improvement, performance correction, and coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
- Master's Degree nursing (MSN) Preferred.
- 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
- 2 years of relevant experience recent relevant leadership (i.e., Charge Nurse, Shared Leadership position, Magnet Champion, QSO) (based on Corewell Health entity) Preferred.
- MI RN license Required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
- AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 180 days Required.
- Corewell Health Nurse Supervisors are REQUIRED to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire into the role.
