Full Job Description
DESCRIPTION

Grace Pointe, a 53-bed skilled nursing facility, is currently accepting applications for full-time RN Staff Development Coordinator. The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, coordinate, and provide in-service education for all facility staff, primarily validating competencies for all staff, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by your supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

This position will work Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm. The wage range for this position is $90,000-95,000 annually, and is based on years of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

STAFF DEVELOPMENT
  • Understand the budget allocated for staff development and operate within budget parameters.
  • Responsible for facility education programs.
  • Conduct one to one or group in-service sessions based on outcome of all CNA performance reviews.
  • Conduct one to one in-service sessions to meet the needs of residents and staff.
  • Design, plan and provide education programs on all shifts and for all departments.
  • In partnership with HR, maintain current education records of classes and content of in-services conducted, attendance and performance of facility employees (CNAs are required to have a minimum of 12 hours of in-service per year). Ensure that all employees are up to date with education.
  • Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employees' performance.
  • Plan and provide an annual schedule of planned education programs.
  • Plan, schedule and post a monthly calendar of education programs.
  • Utilizing adult learning principles, create lesson plans containing objectives, course content, method of instruction and method of evaluation.
  • If provided by the facility, conduct, and maintain the nurse aide training program.
  • Conduct daily facility rounds observing environment safety and cleanliness, staff performance for proper body mechanics, resident fall prevention, infection control compliance, and meeting resident needs.

INFECTION CONTROL
  • Serves as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations
  • Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices
  • Must be knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility
  • Responsible for implementing and tracking the immunizations for residents and staff per regulation and facility policy. Will work with HR for staff immunizations
  • Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE NURSING
  • Oversee facility as designee for Director of Nursing to include managing staff, working with DON and ADON in disciplinary actions, and assisting with scheduling of staff.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed, assigned, or delegated.
  • Provide on-call rotation services as assigned on weekends, holidays, and evening/night shifts.
  • Institute isolation precaution measures as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to change, resident needs and customer expectations; meet company standards relating to deadline and attendance.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with other departments.
  • Maintain a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan in-services, health education, and infection control.
  • Participate in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
  • May be needed to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment, throughout the facility.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Experience
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • 1 year of SDC experience preferred

Qualifications
  • RN License required
  • CPR/BLS Certification required
