Job Description

Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our 9NJB Specialty Clinics - Urology, General Surgery, Rehabilitation Medicine, Chest, Thoracic Surgery, Medical Operative Consult, Neurology, Palliative Care, and Hematology/Oncology.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE, 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift, M-F 9:00am - 5:30pm

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The 9NJB Specialty Clinics is a multi-specialty outpatient clinic that serves our Harborview Mission population. With both medical and surgical specialties co-located in a shared clinic space, clinic staff work within a muti-disciplinary team consisting, but not limited to, attending and resident providers, APPs, pharmacists, social workers, and respiratory therapy. The patients served by our specialty services range from individuals seeking one-time consults to those needing long term complex case management.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve the following clinics: Chest, General Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, Palliative Care and Urology

  • Preoperative teaching

  • Wound care catheter care

  • Assist MDs with in-clinic procedures

  • Care coordination and patient education

  • Provide pre-assessment evaluation/intake assessments for patients seen in the multi-service, multi-specialty clinics (Urology, General Surgery, Chest, and Heme-Onc Clinics

  • Responsible for point of care procedures used in Urology (Urine Dipstick, Pregnancy Test, etc.)

  • Demonstrate proper sterile technique for the set-up and breakdown of all minor surgery procedures done in the clinics, wound care, including suture/staple removal and steri-stripping

  • Demonstrate proper sterile/clean technique for all procedures including placement and removal of foley catheters, Suprapubic Catheters, Urodynamics, Prostate Needle Biopsy, Vasectomy, Pressure Flow Study, I & D, Peak Flow Rate, Post-void residual, colostomy care, blood draws (simple and complex), IV, IM, SQ injections

  • Responsible for the discharge and collaborative planning for discharge of patients from the Clinic

  • Collaborate with the mulit-disciplinary services to provide a continuum of care for the patient

  • Phone triaging

REQUIREMENTS

  • Active WA State or Multi-State RN License by start date

  • At least 2 years of acute care or outpatient nursing experience, with wound care or urologic experience
    diverse populations, including patients with mental health and substance use disorders, and understanding their unique challenges

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$46.97 hourly

Pay Range Maximum:

$87.02 hourly

Other Compensation:

$1.00 BSN premium Overtime pay Relocation assistance available
