Shift: Full Time Weekend Nights (7p-7:30a), 3 12s/Week, with rotating holidays

Work Arrangement: On-site
Department: Pediatrics ICU

Facility: Children's Hospital - 1021 Hitt St, Columbia, MO
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $34.46 - $51.02 per hour, based on experience
Shift Differentials:

o Additional $8.00 per hour for RN Weekend Program Sat/Sun shifts

o Additional $4.00 per hour for Night shifts

ABOUT THE JOB

MU Health Care is looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our nursing team in Pediatrics. Our Pediatrics unit is a 28-bed unit with flex capacity to 36 or 46 beds. We utilize a family-centered care model where parents are treated as partners and use advanced technology and innovation to care for our Pediatrics patients that range from a couple days old to 21 years. You'll see a variety of diagnoses, including respiratory, neurology, orthopedic, oncology, and traumas. You can also expect growth pathways, as at two years, all Pediatrics nurses get chemo certified.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
• Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative patient needs, including discharge planning.
• Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report and symptoms of pain promptly. Utilizes an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.)
• Demonstrates an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to the appropriate individual.
• Educates patients and significant others about their medications.
• Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
• Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.
• Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
• Understands the attendance and punctuality guidelines, and adherence to the dress code.
• Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person and records those observations accurately and concisely.
• Provides quality patient care and works with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
• One (1) year of RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
