Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Experience: Minimum of 5 years RN experience, with 2 years of PACU specific experience
License: RN
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Must-Have:
- Pre-op experience
- IV starts, medication reconciliation experience
- PACU experience, including critical care drips
- Strong customer service skills
- Comfortability with discharge teaching
Description:
The facility is a licensed stroke center with inpatient and outpatient surgical services.
The PACU department includes both Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas.
The average patient load is between 25 to 35 patients per day.
Common patient types include pediatric to adult surgical patients.
The majority of cases are outpatient surgeries, with a smaller percentage being inpatient.
Typical case types include urology, gynecology, orthopedics, and ENT procedures.
There are restrictions on certain types of surgeries, such as vascular, neuro/spine, and bariatric procedures.
Occasionally, the PACU may admit ICU level patients.
Experience with Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) recovery and medication management is preferred.
Nursing staff will work in collaboration with departmental leadership and surgical teams.
There is no CNA support, but there are transportation services available for patient transfers.
Nurses will not routinely float outside of the PACU department.
The electronic medical records system used is EPIC.
This role requires participation in an on-call schedule, with a callback time of 30 minutes.
Teamwork and a positive departmental culture are essential in this fast-paced environment.
Weekend work and holiday shifts are not required.
There is a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration within the department.
