Job descriptionOverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, particularly in urgent care and inpatient settings. As a PACU nurse, you will play a crucial role in monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort during the critical post-operative period. Your expertise in airway management and aseptic techniques will be essential as you provide high-quality care to patients of all ages, including infants.
Duties- Monitor and assess patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage intravenous (IV) lines.
- Provide immediate care for any complications or emergencies that may arise.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth.
- Implement infection control protocols, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed at all times.
- Assist with the transition of patients to inpatient units or home community care as needed.
Certfications: ACLS, BLS
Skills- Cardiovascular - Care of the Patient
- Strong knowledge of urgent care practices and hospital medicine.
- Proficiency in airway management techniques for various patient demographics.
- Experience in providing infant care within a clinical setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate patient-centered care.
This position is the pre and post procedure area for the Cardiac Cath Lab and IR. Expreince working withrecovering cardiac patients is required.
**Start times vary from 0600 to 1100. There is a call requirement of up to 3 shifts in a two week period which could include weekend call. Weekend call is Saturday from 0600 to Sunday at 0600 and Sunday from 0609 to Monday at 0600
Requirement: PACU or recovering of Heart Cath experience. Minimum of three years, but five is preferred.
