Job Title & Specialty Area: RN - Neuro Oncology Coordinator

Department: Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders Outpatient

Location: Children's Health Dallas

Shift: Days M-F 8:00 - 4:30 with every other Monday day off.

Job Type: (On-Site)

Summary:

This nurse will join the team of nurses in the Gill Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders Clinic setting, with a primary focus on Neuro-Oncology. Responsibilities include direct patient care in providing chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and various other IV medication infusions in addition to coordinating outpatient care. Clinic is open Monday-Friday, closed holidays.

Responsibilities:
* Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
* Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
* Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
* Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
* Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.

Other information:

WORK EXPERIENCE
* At least 1 year registered nursing experience is required. Experience working in pediatric hematology oncology strongly preferred.

EDUCATION
* BSN in Nursing is required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
* Registered Nurse-1N-RN Essential Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
