Fairview Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has a dedicated team of caregivers that provide the highest quality, family-centered care to ill neonate and extremely low birth weight infants. This unit provides 24-hour neonatology services, evidence-based nursing practice, and advanced respiratory care, such as high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to neonates, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medication and treatments, assessing and coordinating patients’ discharge plans, and monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ condition. A caregiver in this role works nights + on-call shifts from 7:00 p.m. 6 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: 37rovide direct patient care to neonates in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures and protocols. 37mplement and monitor patient care plans. 37onitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate. 37erve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. 37ote and carry out physician and nursing orders. 37ssess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 37raduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) 37urrent licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) 37eonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire 37asic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) 37ne year of experience in an acute care hospital setting OR licensed military RN experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 37achelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) 37dult ICU or Medical/Surgical experience 37ICU experience Physical Requirements: 37ight Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. 37ven though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. 37ote: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible. Personal Protective Equipment: 37ollows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
