RN Nurse Manager - Residential Services Program - Amityville, LI

Full time - 35 hours per week

In this role you will manage a cluster of group homes for Developmentally Disabled clients located in Suffolk County. Candidate must have OPWDD experience. The RN Nurse Manager will supervise and train Residence RN's who oversee delivery of individualized medical and psychiatric care for our DD adults. Responsibilities:

Ø Provide day-to-day guidance, oversight, supervision and evaluation of Residence RN's as assigned to guarantee regulatory compliance and quality medical care.

Ø Communicate with residents, families, Coordinators, Managers, DSPs, MCCs, and Behavior Intervention Specialists regarding care issues, offering professional advice and instruction. Address all medical and medication-related issues of individuals living in the assigned cluster of homes.

Ø Complete quality review audits of nursing functions within assigned residences.

Ø Deliver workshops/training on health-related issues for staff, clients and families as well as AMAP Recertification and 3-day AMAP course.

Ø Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Advise team of treatment issues and/or significant changes and records, and maintain accurate documentation.

Ø Assist the Healthcare Administrator with clinical and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Ø Deliver "hands-on" nursing care and residence supervision in absence of Residence RN.

Ø Cross-Train with second Nurse Manager to supervise other residence clusters in their absence.

Ø Provide on call coverage of assigned residential cluster.

Ø Provide on call coverage in the absence of the RN Supervisor or Nurse Manager.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years' experience providing care for Developmentally Disabled population.
  • 2-3 years' supervisory experience.
  • Current, valid NYS Registered Nurse License.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must be able to travel to any/all residence locations in all weather conditions
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during stressful situations, including medical emergencies; ability to respond with clarity and objectivity when determining action and advising staff.
  • Ability to remain firm and persistent in interactions with residents, staff and medical providers re: medical advocacy issues
  • Ability to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing and toileting
  • Ability to perform tasks that may require stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain personal safety and respond appropriately in a calm, non-confrontational manner during an individual's physical or emotional outburst.


Salary: $90,000/ yr.

Core Work Schedule: 9 am - 5 pm, Mon.-Fri. with ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule as resident care needs warrant.
