Description

Position Summary

The Charge Nurse (RN/LPN) is responsible for overseeing the clinical care and daily nursing operations of the assigned care area during the overnight shift. Working on our Memory Care Village, this position plays an important role in supporting residents with dementia and other cognitive needs while providing leadership, guidance, and support to CNAs and other nursing staff.

The Charge Nurse (RN/LPN) serves as a clinical resource, responds to changes in resident condition, coordinates care, and promotes a safe, respectful, and consistent environment for residents and staff. This position works independently during the overnight hours while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with care plans, policies, and best practices
  • Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents living with dementia and other cognitive impairments
  • Supervise, support, and provide direction to CNAs and other nursing staff on the overnight shift
  • Coordinate and delegate assignments to ensure appropriate staffing and workload distribution
  • Monitor resident conditions and respond promptly and appropriately to changes in status
  • Administer medications and treatments within the scope of licensure and organizational policy
  • Communicate effectively with providers, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of care and services provided
  • Promote a calm, safe, and supportive environment for residents throughout the overnight hours
  • Follow appropriate approaches for residents experiencing confusion, anxiety, behavioral changes, or other dementia-related needs
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and care transitions as needed
  • Address concerns, incidents, and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
  • Support compliance with state and federal regulations and organizational policies
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment
Requirements
  • Current, active RN or LPN license in the State of Maine
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers, residents, families, and supervisors
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia or in a memory care setting is preferred

Schedule
  • 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • 32 hours in Week 1 / 40 hours in Week 2
  • Every other weekend required
  • Home base: Freedom Bay Memory Care Village
