Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care to join our team in beautiful
Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a full-time, 0.90 FTE night shift position.
Compensation:The salary range for this position is
$44.27 to $71.09 per hour. Hiring rates are determined based on factors such as education, training, experience, seniority, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement, and there may be multiple openings available.
Hiring bonus and relocation assistance may be available.Job SummaryAs a Long Term Care RN, you will provide professional, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policies. You will collaborate closely with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record.
- Delegate and direct care activities to appropriate team members based on their education, credentials, and demonstrated competencies.
- Maintain professional competency through continuing education and professional development.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, infection prevention activities, and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducationRequired- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Preferred- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
ExperiencePreferred- Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Staff Nurse
- Previous geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing experience
Candidates without specialty experience may be considered and oriented to competency.
Licenses and CertificationsRequired- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of age-specific growth, development, and life-stage needs.
- Ability to provide patient-centered care and foster positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to support and apply medical center policies, procedures, and organizational values.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to meet department-specific credential requirements.
Working ConditionsPhysical Requirements- Safely handle patients using established lifting and transfer protocols, with assistive equipment as appropriate.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 45 lbs.
- Ability to perform CPR for extended periods as required.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
- Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs. and frequently lift up to 5 lbs.
Environmental Requirements- Exposure to biohazardous materials, bodily fluids, and airborne particles.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally noisy healthcare environment.
Sensory and Cognitive Requirements- Vision and hearing sufficient to perform essential job functions (corrective devices permitted).
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately exchange information.
