Summary:
As an ICU RN, you will provide high-acuity, patient-centered care to critically ill patients using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care throughout each shift. This role requires rapid clinical judgment, effective prioritization, and efficient coordination of complex nursing interventions while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality critical care within a standards-based framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs ongoing clinical assessments, monitors patient status, and utilizes evidence-based protocols and standards of care to guide treatment.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and advanced nursing interventions as prescribed, documenting care according to policy.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate care and support optimal patient outcomes.
  • Identifies and addresses patient and family education, discharge planning, and care transition needs throughout hospitalization.
  • Responds effectively in emergency and rapidly changing clinical situations, utilizing sound clinical judgment and critical thinking.
  • Delegates patient care responsibilities appropriately and provides clinical supervision to LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
  • Assists with procedures and advanced critical care treatments while maintaining competency in ICU equipment, technology, and required clinical skills.
  • Supports orientation and development of new staff and students while serving as a clinical resource and professional role model.
  • Demonstrates leadership, supports shared governance, and participates in charge or other leadership responsibilities as needed.
