- Rendering direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patient populations in a manner consistent with the scope of licensure, the California Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy Medical Center (MMC) policies and procedures
- Assessing patients for nursing needs, establishing and implementing a problem-oriented plan of care, and evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions provided
- Providing immediate direction to other members of the nursing care team to ensure the appropriate provision and coordination of nursing services
- Acknowledging that patient age populations served and specific job competencies may vary depending on the assigned nursing unit
- Utilizing the "Department / Unit Orientation & Initial Assessment of Competency" checklists, which are incorporated by reference, to define the specific requirements of this job description

- Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire or
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, upon hire and
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), within 18 - months
Preferred
- Current MICN
- Bilingual
- Previous acute or emergency experience a plus
- Certification for Emergency Nurse (CEN) Certificate
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
