Job Summary:

Ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care by developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programs. This role requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment to design and lead initiatives that promote the professional growth and competency of nurses and other clinicians. Actively supports management policies and hospital operations in an acute care setting. Works collaboratively with leadership, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring that clinical competencies meet regulatory standards, organizational goals, and patient care needs.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Three years' of recent experience in an acute care setting: Preferred
  • One year experience in clinical education or staff development: Preferred


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of practice: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
  • Other professional certifications: Preferred


Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS or AHA-CPR or ARC-CPR: Required


Essential Functions:
  • Develops, coordinates, and delivers education programs to enhance the clinical competencies of nurses and other clinicians. Creates, revises, and evaluates educational materials, curricula, and instructional methodologies based on organizational objectives and evidence-based practices. Facilitates orientation, onboarding, and training programs for new hires, including nurses and other clinical staff. Conducts workshops, in-service sessions, and continuing education programs to support staff development and regulatory compliance.
  • Designs and implements processes to assess, validate, and document clinical competencies for nursing and clinical staff. Collaborates with unit leaders and preceptors to ensure competency-based performance appraisals align with organizational and regulatory standards. Monitors and evaluates clinical staff performance and competency attainment through observation, simulation, and outcome-based metrics.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of state and federal regulations, including Joint Commission standards, to ensure compliance in all clinical education programs. Serves as a subject matter expert on clinical practices, providing guidance on regulatory updates, clinical policies, and procedures. Leads initiatives to integrate evidence-based practices into clinical workflows and education programs.
  • Collaborates with clinical managers and leaders to identify knowledge gaps and training needs, aligning educational initiatives with strategic goals. Serves as a mentor and resource for clinical staff, fostering a supportive learning environment. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in tailoring educational interventions to address complex clinical challenges and organizational priorities. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and strategic planning to enhance patient care outcomes and staff development.
