Position Summary
WashU Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a compassionate and skilled RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join its Fetal Care Center team.

The RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator serves as a key care coordinator in a specialized outpatient setting, providing comprehensive care coordination and support for pregnant patients whose fetuses have a suspected or diagnosed congenital anomaly. Working alongside Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists and pediatric experts from St. Louis Children's Hospital, the coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating advanced evaluations, treatment planning, and ongoing care for high-risk pregnancies.

A typical day includes coordinating consultations among Fetal Care Center providers, neonatologists, and pediatric subspecialists, providing patient education on fetal diagnoses, assisting with fetal surgery planning, and maintaining seamless communication with primary OB/GYN providers. The RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator will gain extensive experience in advanced fetal medicine while supporting daily clinic operations and delivering continuous emotional and psychosocial care to families navigating challenging diagnoses.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and review referring medical records to determine coordination of care for evaluation and treatment.
  • Coordination of consultations with Fetal Care Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, and other pediatric subspecialists.
  • Provide in-person and telephone ongoing support by providing education for women and their families related to fetal diagnosis, plan of care and psychosocial needs, and responding to complex requests from patients and physicians.
  • Schedule additional consultation appointments, coordination of prenatal care with primary OBGYN, coordinate additional testing, and any other appointments as necessary.
  • Coordinate and assist as needed with fetal surgery cases.
  • Provide patient care, which may include assessment, administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status during appointments.
  • Collaborate with social work support for additional patient socioeconomic needs and counseling needs during the prenatal and postnatal period.
  • Create and maintain medical records in patient's electronic medical record (EPIC) and The Fetal Care Center database (RedCap).
  • Communicate and review plan of care with additional specialists within MFM and pediatric subspecialties.
  • Attend and participate in education, outreach and case conferences that represent and promote The Fetal Care Center.
  • Assist with creating teaching tools for families regarding various diagnoses, plan of care and other educational materials.
  • Support Fetal Care Center team in all clinic operations by assisting with patients, physician queries, answering phones or any other additional needs.
