Position Summary:
Registered Professional Nurse who possesses clinical and leadership skills relative to the needs of the Patient Care Unit. Oversees the RNs and ancillary staff in the performance of their duties.
Principal Duties & Essential Functions:
1. Ensure that patients are assigned to a Primary Nurse.
2. Adjusts patient assignment according to the patient's acuity level and nursing care needs.
3. Reviews staffing levels for the day to accommodate the patient's needs. Reviews Operating Room schedule/ admissions to anticipate staffing needs.
4. Responsible and accountable for assisting with the smooth running of the unit. Acts in collaboration with the nurse manager and the staff to consult, advise and work toward accomplishing the resolution of problems.
5. Responsible for assisting in staff education on Nursing Units.
6. Adheres to budget as outlined by the appropriate personnel.
7. Able to proficiently deliver patient care
Position Requirements:
BSN required, MSN preferred
Telemetry experience required
American Heart Association BLS & ACLS required
