Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks, skills, duties, procedures and responsibilities according to Medical Center Policy and Procedure. Including, but not limited to:
  • Demonstrates ability to assess/interpret age-specific data.
  • Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care: 1. identifies patient/caregiver teaching needs 2. identifies patient safety issues 3. Identifies patient comfort / pain issues
  • Performs the priority procedures for the assigned patients or areas safely - without causing harm legally - within the scope of practice and SMMC policy and in a manner perceived as satisfying by the patient and family.
  • Identifies actual and potentially unsafe care practices, initiates actions as appropriate to prevent or correct and reports in a timely manner.
  • Documents in accordance with SMMC policy and procedure in a timely manner the following information: 1. initial and subsequent assessment and data including a cardiac assessment 2. interventions 3. patient response and outcome 4. unusual occurrences
