OverviewThe Risk Management Coordinator has a general knowledge of Healthcare insurance programs, managing claims, interfacing with defense counsel and legal personnel and complying with risk management related standards (e.g., the Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies). Must have a personnel commitment to enhancing and promoting patient safety and high reliability principles.
This position requires a strong knowledge of healthcare policy and procedure management . Frequent verbal and written interactive contact is required with hospital and medical staff, patients, families, and outside professionals. The position requires the ability to articulately communicate a wide variety of legal, medical, and business subjects as they relate to risk management with tact and diplomacy.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists in the coordination of Risk Management meetings and educational programs, which includes scheduling, coordination, minute taking and follow-up.
- Compiles Incident Report data, NYPORTS, CH Patient Safety Data and prepares reports/graphs for presentation for various committees.
- Investigates and coordinates general liability reports
- Plays an active role in hospital committees like Environment of Care, Workplace violence and Safe patient handling
- Coordinates risk management, performance improvement and patient relations information as needed for administrative activities, and hospital insurers.
- Maintains current knowledge of regulatory codes, legal requirements and healthcare law, i.e., CMS (COP), TJC, ISMP, NPSF, Leapfrog, IHI, regulations and other patient care related initiatives to improve outcomes.
- Refers key issues and trends from risk management reporting system to the Director of Risk Management.
- Supports patient safety activities with other clinical loss control disciplines, i.e., quality management, performance improvement, and infection control initiatives.
- Assists in investigation of Privacy policy investigations.
- Maintains department databases. Comfortable with multiple software applications including electronic medical records and Microsoft products
- Assists in Recall activities and reporting to FDA on SMDA events
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Health Sciences preferred
- One or more years of previous experience in risk management, legal, insurance, quality or performance improvement preferred
Posted Salary RangeUSD $90,000.00 - USD $120,000.90 /Yr.
