Description & Requirements

MANTECH seeks an experienced, energetic, and innovative Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) Manager to join our world-class team. This vital position will be based at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station , FL .

This position will specifically support the New Entrant Product Line, ensuring new launch service providers (LSP) successfully navigate the certification and recurring flight lifecycles.

In this key role, you will manage our client's RIO management (RIOM) process, working with Government, Aerospace, SE&I contractor s , and LSP stakeholders to ensure that programmatic and technical flight risks are effectively identified and mitigated.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the client with the proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and resolution of issues specific to the New Entrant Product Line.


  • Maintain continuity of the N SSL RIO Management (RIOM) processes, provide expert consultation to RIO owners, and communicate lessons learned across the New Entrant Product Line team.


  • Solve complex integration problems and identify innovative courses of action, often working independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.


  • Apply project management and engineering knowledge to assess and improve risk management processes, methods, and tools used by the USSF in the design, certification, and launch of vehicles deploying critical warfighter assets.


  • Ensure continuous adherence to, review of, and effective utilization of Space Ac cess , NSSL, and New Entrant RIOM compliance and certification documents.


  • Assess and track metrics related to the New Entrant Product Line RIOM processes to ensure overall launch vehicle readiness .


  • Communicate complex risk concepts, anticipate potential programmatic objections, and influence diverse stakeholders to adopt sound risk-mitigation paths .


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field or equivalent experience. 1.5 years relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of each 1 year of education/degree requirement.


  • 9 + years of experience in a STEM field, with a track record of identifying and implementing innovative solutions to address customer needs.


  • 1+ year of specific Department of Defense , NASA, or industry equivalent RIO management or innovation management experience.


  • Ability to be on-site at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station / Patrick Air Force Base with limited notice to support critical customer meetings and launch operations.


Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with Do D risk and issue management guidance and policy.


  • Familiarity with Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Access , and launch site operations.


  • Knowledge of NSSL New Entrant certification requirements and launch vehicle mission assurance processes.


  • Experience utilizing Jira and Confluence software for collaborative project management and risk tracking.


  • Experience implementing or managing a business intelligence system for risk visualization.
