Description & Requirements

Maximus is seeking an accomplished Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator to provide expertise in managing and optimizing assets for our federal client's critical operations. As a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Admin, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the RHEL infrastructure. Your role will involve overseeing system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the RHEL environment.

Position requires an active Secret clearance.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Administer, support, and optimize RHEL-based server infrastructure (RHEL 7.x/8.x/9.x), including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.

- Perform daily system administration tasks such as user management, permissions, file systems, and network configuration.
- Monitor, analyze, and tune system performance; identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure reliability and efficiency.

- Execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations to safeguard data and maintain high availability.

- Assess, recommend, and implement hardware and software solutions to meet evolving business and technical requirements.

- Develop, maintain, and update documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation using tools such as Tenable, HP WebInspect, and other industry-standard platforms.

- Investigate security incidents, assess risks, and design mitigation strategies; implement proactive and reactive security measures.

- Manage and apply DISA STIGs and mitigate KEVs (Known Exploitable Vulnerabilities) to ensure compliance and security.

- Automate routine tasks and system management using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.), and other tools to improve operational efficiency.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application, and security) to support integrated solutions and resolve complex issues.

- Provide technical guidance and support for system integration, migrations, and upgrades.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:

- Active Secret clearance.

- Must be able to report onsite to Annapolis Junction, MD.

- Due to contract requirements, only US Citizens can be considered. Candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered.

- 7+ years of experience working as a system admin on Linux or Red Hat systems is required; related experience is acceptable.

- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.

- This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule
