Full Job Description
The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Reverse Flow Underwriter to join our Specialty - Global Network US Servicing team based in our New York City, NY office on a hybrid schedule Under moderate supervision the Reverse Flow Underwriter underwrites and issues US local admitted Property and/or Casualty policies in compliance with company guidelines and US state filings, supporting the Global Network. Collaborates with foreign Producing Offices and US brokers to provide policy terms and conditions that meet customer needs and adhere to US state regulations. Some of the Reverse Flow Underwriter responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Review foreign producing office requests for US local admitted needs and validate compliance with premium and coverage expectations based on company/state filings and guidelines.
  • Independently analyze instructions from foreign Producing Offices and/or US brokers, resolving any conflicting information.
  • Address and resolve obstacles that may hinder processing time by consulting with relevant stakeholders or devising effective workarounds.
  • Make underwriting decisions within the scope of their respective Letters of Authority and discuss any deviations from common practice or underwriting authority with the Manager.
  • Ensure files are prepared for periodic self-audits and/or company audits.
  • Work efficiently to meet the Global Network Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeline with minimal supervision.
  • Manage SLA standards by providing timely program validation, policy issuance, and invoicing per Global Network Contractual Agreement.
  • Collaborate with foreign Producing Office Underwriters and US local brokers, offering consultative insights on pricing adequacy, local US terms and conditions, and program structure advice. Responsibilities include resolving conflicting underwriting data, addressing billing issues, and managing premium payment resolutions.
  • Educate foreign Producing Offices on local US regulations, market conditions, and any local territory nuances relevant to underwriting considerations.
  • Train junior team members on underwriting discipline and servicing practices, leading by example to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Stays abreast of industry, territory and insurance trends.

The expertise you bring
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years global underwriting experience
  • Professional insurance designation is preferred (CPCU)
  • Experience working with international producers/producing offices on Global Programs; understand various underwriting programs (i.e. rating programs, underwriting platforms, coverage forms.)

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $80,000 - $93,000, based on the factors aforementioned. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
