Full Job Description
Impact Advisors is seeking a dynamic and motivated Accounts Receivable (AR) Director who will serve as a revenue cycle leader with oversight of all AR operations for a major client engagement. This role requires strong operational expertise, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to scale and develop high-performing teams across both U.S.-based and nearshore locations. The AR Director serves as the primary onsite liaison for client leadership, ensuring exceptional partnership, consistent KPI delivery, and continuous optimization of AR processes and outcomes. This leader will directly oversee all AR functions-including cash performance, collections workflows, denial resolution, and process improvement-and will manage a large organizational structure consisting of on- and near-shore teams consisting of AR managers, supervisors, team leads, and representatives. This position will report to the VP of RCMS and will require 75-80% travel to the client location in Southern California. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to client success while making a meaningful impact on the healthcare industry. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Management 3 Lead and oversee a multi layered AR team including Managers, Supervisors, AR Team Leads, U.S. based AR Representatives, Nearshore AR Teams 3 Drive individual and team performance against goals (e.g., DSO, denial rates, cash flow). 3 Ensure AR leadership is consistently providing coaching, clear expectations, and accountability to AR staff. 3 Conduct skip-level reviews, manager and supervisor meetings, and performance evaluations with a focus on leadership development and operational excellence. 3 Collaborate with workforce planning to ensure proper staffing, training, and competency development across both geographies. Client Relationship 3 Serve as the primary onsite AR leader for the client, building trusted relationships with executive, operational, and departmental stakeholders. 3 Lead regular onsite reviews, including performance updates, issue escalation management, workflow assessments, and collaborative planning sessions. 3 Represent AR operations in client steering committees, service reviews, and strategic improvement discussions. AR Operations Oversight 3 Own daily, weekly, and monthly cash goals, ensuring consistent achievement across all payers and account types. 3 Build, monitor, and drive performance to established operational KPIs such as: cash collections, resolution accuracy, denial overturn rates, A/R aging buckets, and productivity and quality metrics. 3 Drive the end-to-end AR process, including follow-up, underpayment resolution, denial management, appeals, and variance analysis. 3 Monitor AR aging and drive strategies to reduce Days in AR (DAR), improve liquidation rates, and increase resolution quality. 3 Implement actionable, data-driven workflows to optimize productivity and financial performance. Reporting & Analytics 3 Create dashboards and reporting packages for internal leadership and client executives. 3 Use metrics to assess risks, identify trends, and proactively intervene to maintain strong performance. 3 Identify patterns in denials or payer behavior; recommend edits or rules to drive system improvements. Process Optimization & Workflow Automation 3 Partner with IT/ERP teams to optimize Epic (or other RCM systems), introducing automation and front-end edits. 3 Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline AR workflows, reduce leakage, and enhance recovery rates. Cross-Functional Collaboration 3 Develop or support SOPs, process maps, and standardized workflows to ensure consistency across both US and Nearshore operations 3 Partner with internal and client teams to streamline processes, remove bottlenecks, and enhance efficiency through automation and system optimization. 3 Support integration of new service lines, expansion planning, and scalability initiatives. 3 Lead improvement projects tied to backlog reduction, incorrect resolution mitigation, and enhanced denial prevention. Quality & Audit 3 Develop and maintain quality assurance and audit frameworks. 3 Support internal and external audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance activities. Qualifications Required 3 8-10+ years in healthcare revenue cycle operations, with progressive AR responsibilities. 3 At least 3 years in a managerial capacity overseeing AR teams in a hospital or provider-based environment 3 Strong knowledge of payer rules, denial workflows, AR best practices, and healthcare billing regulations. 3 Demonstrated success improving KPIs, cash outcomes, and operational performance. 3 Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills, especially in client-facing environments. 3 Strong proficiency in Epic RCM modules, insurance claim adjudication, and AR follow-up processes. 3 Advanced ability in Excel or reporting Preferred 3 Skilled at trend identification, root cause analysis, and recommendation of corrective actions. 3 Proven ability to manage large, diverse teams across multiple geographies (including nearshore or offshore). 3 Prior consulting or client-embedded leadership experience. 3 Experience scaling teams during rapid growth or transformation periods.
