As a Staff Pharmacist, you will play an important role in ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications while providing exceptional patient care. You'll work alongside pharmacy leadership, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pharmacy services in a supportive, community-focused environment.
What You'll Do- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Evaluate prescriptions for appropriate medication, dosage, administration, allergies, contraindications, and potential drug interactions.
- Conduct Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) and resolve clinical or medication-related concerns.
- Counsel patients on prescription medications, over-the-counter products, proper medication use, potential side effects, and adherence.
- Communicate with prescribers and other healthcare professionals regarding medication questions, therapy recommendations, and prescription clarification.
- Process prescription transfers and respond to incoming calls from physicians, patients, and healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient medication profiles and pharmacy records.
- Ensure appropriate handling, documentation, storage, inventory, and reconciliation of controlled substances.
- Administer immunizations when appropriately trained and certified.
- Support pharmacy inventory management, medication ordering, storage, and cost-control initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy team members.
- Help maintain an organized, efficient, compliant, and patient-focused pharmacy environment.
- Follow all Hometown Pharmacy policies, procedures, professional standards, and applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Protect patient information and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company requirements.
- Complete required training and continuing education.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Current or eligible Wisconsin Pharmacist License in good standing.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, medication safety, and professional standards.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications- Immunization certification or ability to become certified.
- Previous retail or community pharmacy experience.
- Experience providing leadership or guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
- Familiarity with PioneerRx, Rx30, or similar pharmacy management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Interest in proactive healthcare, preventative care, and expanded pharmacy services.
