Full Job Description
Description:

Position Summary:

As a Retail Insights Manager (Sales Engineer), you'll be the customer-facing subject matter expert on retail deductions, chargebacks, and compliance - the person suppliers trust in the room. Partnering side by side with Account Executives and Account Managers, you'll co-pilot deals from first demo through close, translating deep retailer knowledge into clear, compelling business cases that help suppliers protect revenue and recover deductions.

This is a highly external, sales-facing role: you'll spend the majority of your time on demos, discovery, and data presentations, acting as the technical account leader who speaks to the platform, interprets audit findings, and builds the ROI story. You came up on the supplier side managing deductions and compliance - now you'll bring that expertise to the table for suppliers who were once in your shoes. If you thrive on meeting new people, thinking on your feet, and turning complex retail data into a story that closes business, this role puts you at the heart of how SPS Revenue Recovery drives growth for suppliers.

What You'll Do:

  • Sales-cycle co-pilot: Partner with Account Executives and Account Managers as the technical expert across the full deal cycle - first call, discovery, demo, data presentation, and contract negotiation - owning the deductions and retailer expertise the salesperson can't carry alone.

  • Product demos & presentations: Present and demo the SPS Revenue Recovery platform to prospects ranging from Fortune 100 suppliers to small businesses, showing deep retailer knowledge and answering questions with command and credibility.

  • Data presentation & business case: Interpret audit and deduction analysis, pull out the insights that matter, and build the ROI and value story - then deliver it clearly to stakeholders up to and including CFO-level decision-makers.

  • Deal strategy: Prep with reps on huddles and prep calls, strategize on messaging and outreach voice, and proactively push deals forward - weighing in on what's best for the deal at any given moment.

  • Retailer subject matter expertise: Serve as the go-to SME on deduction codes, compliance programs, and root-cause analysis across multiple retailers - Walmart, Amazon, Target and beyond (CVS, Walgreens, Kohl's, Home Depot, Lowe's, UNFI, and others we support).

  • Cross-functional partnership - Marketing, Product Customer Success: Work closely with Marketing - translating the voice of the supplier, advising on feature priorities, escalating data questions, and representing the retailer domain internally and externally. Hosting webinars and lead in person-events related to Revenue Recovery.

  • Product Development: Work closely with the Revenue Recovery Product Managers to advise on feature prioritization. Sitting in on customer research calls to "translate" user feedback. Providing insights and feedback on the product based on experience. Advising on potential feature opportunities and technological advancements in the platform as an SME.

  • Thought leadership & enablement: Contribute to article creation, host webinars, support events, and help build out platform functionality as an SME - elevating the team's external voice in the revenue recovery space.

  • Confidentiality & trust: Handle sensitive client and revenue data with discretion and integrity while influencing strategic decisions across teams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven Experience: Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent education and work experience), ideally on the supplier side managing deductions, chargebacks, and retailer compliance - within a B2B SaaS, CPG, retail, or supply chain environment.

  • Multi-Retailer Knowledge (must-have): Deep, hands-on expertise across at least two of the big three - Walmart, Target, and Amazon - with Amazon strongly preferred. Amazon-only is not sufficient; this role requires breadth across multiple retailers, as you'll be expected to be the expert on any retailer a supplier brings to the table.

  • Revenue Recovery Expertise: Expert-level understanding of the retailer deductions space - deduction codes, compliance programs, root-cause efforts, and how it all impacts suppliers' day-to-day operations, including EDI and how supplier operations work.

  • External & Sales-Facing Command: Comfortable and confident presenting to new people you've never met - from analysts to CFOs - and speaking to ROI on high-value contracts. Able to step into and out of complex supply chain sales cycles with high impact and credibility.

  • Clear, Confident Communicator: Clear, concise, and confident verbal, non-verbal, and written communication - including altering vocal tone and inflection, active listening, and writing relevant, engaging content. No wallflowers: you jump in when the moment strikes.

  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite (advanced Excel - pivot tables, formulas - a plus).

  • Multitasking Under Pressure: Able to juggle multiple demos, presentations, and requests in a single day in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where the calendar is rarely your own - prioritizing quickly and setting boundaries with reps.

  • Self-Driven & Collaborative: Proactive, high-ownership, and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, while collaborating closely and communicating well over Slack and Zoom with a distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of additional retailers we support (CVS, Walgreens, Kohl's, Home Depot, Lowe's, UNFI, and others).

  • Power BI and/or Tableau experience.

  • CRM tools (Salesforce) experience.

  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude) to support analysis, decks, and process efficiency.

  • Mid-level ERP knowledge (most integrations involve pre-built adapters).

  • Prior CPG, retail, supply chain, or SPS Commerce / SupplyPike experience.

Where You'll Work:

This role is either hybrid out of one of our offices in Minneapolis, MN, Rogers, AR or open to remote. We Succeed Together through in-person collaboration, balanced with remote work to provide flexibility
