Job Description:

The Retail Division Director is accountable for profitably grow the Royal Canin retail and Pro business in Canada. Their key deliverables are:
  • Financial performance (Net Sales, Contribution, Cash) in line with agreed budgets.
  • Market Expansion.
  • Enhanced team capability and engagement.
  • Enhanced reputation of Royal Canin in the market.
  • All statutory and company reporting requirements met.

What are we looking for?
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years working in a Senior Sales Management role with proven business results.
  • University degree and a MBA or equivalent preferred in related field or equivalent level of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the Pet Food Industry highly preferred.
  • Strong customer focus and financial acumen, including clear understanding of a P&L.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire a high performance team.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Bilingual verbal and written skills an asset.


What will be your key responsibilities?

Strategic Agility & Managing Vision and Purpose
  • Assess the business to potentially redefine the market approach, including responsible e-commerce channel development and acceleration
  • Develop and gain agreement to a market vision and strategy consistent with the Royal Canin business model and financial targets.
  • Effectively communicate, inspire and align the market team behind this vision and strategy so as to drive progress.
  • Participate as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team to assist in the overall strategic direction setting for Royal Canin Canada


Building Effective Teams & Developing Direct Reports
  • Drive the development of a strong and effective culture in the business consistent with that of Royal Canin and the 5 Principles of Mars, Inc.
  • Create an effective organizational structure that maximizes resources against market priorities and is based in "lean" principles
  • Translate this strategy into clearly focused Sales & Marketing priorities and targets. Ensure that all team members have clear "line of sight" from what they do to its impact on the strategy.
  • Build the capability of the team in Canada to deliver the strategy through identifying development needs, bringing on board new resources as needed and ensuring a "high performance team".
  • Build effective relationships within Royal Canin Americas, and with Royal Canin Global HQ.


Drive for Results & Business Acumen
  • Build influential relationships with key customers and other industry stakeholders (Distribution Partners, Key Opinion Leaders, Key Influencers).
  • Prepare and gain agreement to an annual business plan consistent with the strategy and Royal Canin financial targets.
  • Ensure the right Sales & Marketing Metrics are in place to monitor progress and take corrective action.
  • Monitor competitive activity and take proper action to ensure Royal Canin growth.
  • Drive seamless co-ordination of programs between Sales and Marketing to ensure effective and efficient programs execution.
  • Work closely with the other Division Directors to ensure One Royal Canin collaboration, while ensuring pillar differentiation is respected internally and externally.
  • Plan and Execute Royal Canin ONE media plan delivers high reach and conversion among Pet Owners.
  • Adhere to applicable Quality and Food Safety Policies and Quality Management System requirements to ensure compliance to MARS standards.
  • Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words and spirit.
  • Other duties as assigned.
