Responsibilities for Respiratory Therapy Director:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the respiratory therapy department to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and strategic plans to support clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Lead staff training, education, and professional development initiatives within the respiratory therapy department.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance data to identify opportunities for quality improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and facility policies.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive respiratory care plans.
  • Support clinical decision-making for complex respiratory cases, including ventilator and tracheostomy management.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

Qualifications for Respiratory Therapy Director:
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care required.
  • Current state licensure required.
  • Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a skilled nursing facility, LTACH, or hospital setting required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
