Full Job Description
Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Resilience Water Upstate New York construction management team. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on a variety of construction types, with an immediate focus on a dam rehabilitation construction project in the western wilderness area of the Adirondack Park (Old Forge and Inlet, NY). Arcadis has significantly grown its Resilience Water team and construction management services in Upstate New York over the past few years. The Resident Engineer will become a member of our talented team of construction management professionals that focus on delivering exceptional project outcomes with outstanding client service.

Role accountabilities:

In this role you will have the opportunity to manage exciting and challenging water, wastewater, and related infrastructure projects from the pre-bid through completed construction phases. You will be expected to work closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and end-users, demonstrating a strong understanding of the process and be able to manage day to day construction oversight and resident engineer inspection efforts. In this position you will serve as the primary liaison between the contractor and design staff to address RFI's and review shop drawings. Additonal responsibilitities include:
  • Providing technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project changes to ensure constructability and practicality.
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping, process contractor payments, draft and negotiate field change orders, and compile required reports and deliverables.
  • Managing staff safety, regulatory compliance, permit adherence, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of inspection reports that meet client requirements while monitoring contractor performance, schedule compliance, and responsiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 2 years' experience in construction management/construction inspection on civil works projects (earthwork, dams, roads, utilities, infrastructure, paving, pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • PE, or CCM Certification.
  • Familiarity with dam construction, heavy civil, and water/wastewater treatment facility construction.
  • Experience using MS SharePoint, MS Project, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC), digital tools for daily reports, and PDF editing tools (Bluebeam Revu).
  • Ability to interact effectively with the Construction Contractor management personnel and crew; this includes utilities, state, local, and federal agencies.
  • Demonstrate independent and effective problem-solving/decision-making.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
