This opportunity sits within a refinery and chemical complex business supporting Carbon Storage projects across the full project lifecycle. The role focuses on reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, storage resource assessment, and pressure management to help progress projects from site screening and appraisal through development, operations, and long-term storage stewardship. This position offers the chance to contribute to technically complex CO2 storage work within multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality subsurface and development solutions.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain reservoir simulation models to support carbon storage resource assessment, development planning, and operational decision-making.
- Evaluate reservoir performance, injectivity, pressure evolution, and storage efficiency through analytical and numerical reservoir engineering studies.
- Conduct storage resource assessments, forecasting, and uncertainty analyses to support project maturation and investment decisions.
- Identify, assess, and communicate reservoir-related risks and uncertainties associated with injectivity, pressure management, plume migration, and long-term storage performance.
- Support appraisal planning, development planning, and injection well programs through reservoir engineering evaluations and performance forecasting.
- Improve reservoir understanding through integration of pressure transient testing, well testing, fluid analysis, core data, and reservoir simulation results.
- Develop and evaluate injection optimization strategies that maximize storage performance while maintaining storage integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with geoscience, drilling, regulatory, and monitoring specialists to deliver integrated subsurface and development solutions.
- Contribute to technical documentation, regulatory deliverables, and reservoir engineering support for carbon storage permitting and development activities.
- Communicate technical findings, risks, uncertainties, and recommendations to stakeholders to support business and project decisions.
Required Experience: - Experience in reservoir engineering technical support for Carbon Storage projects.
- Experience across project stages including site screening, appraisal, development, operations, and long-term storage stewardship.
- Background in pressure transient testing, well testing, reservoir characterization, and performance evaluation.
- Around 10 years of experience is sought, with consideration for candidates with 5 years of experience where relevant expertise is demonstrated.
Required Skills: - Reservoir simulation and modelling, including model construction, history matching, forecasting, pressure management, and injectivity assessment.
- INTERSECT and ECLIPSE experience.
- Carbon storage reservoir management, including injection optimization, CO2 plume and pressure management, storage resource assessment, and storage efficiency evaluation.
- Integration of geological, petrophysical, operational, and engineering datasets to develop reservoir models and support decision-making.
- Ability to assess uncertainties and risks and communicate technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
