Summary:

The Researcher II (Epidemiologist III) provides advanced programmatic and scientific consultation to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), supporting research activities within the Immunization Safety Office (ISO). This position serves as a key contributor to vaccine safety research by coordinating complex epidemiologic studies, facilitating multi-site collaborations, analyzing Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) data, assisting the Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment (CISA) project, and supporting project management activities across multiple public health and vaccine safety initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills and experience providing services and support for public health program activities.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical consultation to CDC staff in support of vaccine safety research and surveillance activities within the Immunization Safety Office.
  • Assist CORs with routine contract administration actions across ISO, including tracking project deliverables, performance metrics, and reporting requirements to ensure timely completion.
  • Draft and refine acquisition documents (SOWs, PWSs, IGCE inputs, solicitation components) with supervisory guidance. Develop reports, data summaries, tables, dashboards, presentations, and other project-related materials (includes standard operating procedures (SOPs), study manuals, project guidance documents, manuscript development, and chart abstraction resources).
  • Prepare conference call agendas, facilitate meetings, document meeting minutes, and track action items for Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment (CISA), and other vaccine safety activities. Coordinate stakeholder meetings and communications
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of CDC public health and vaccine safety initiatives.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge analyzing large healthcare or public health datasets.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Science, or a related field. Experience coordinating research and non-research projects involving multiple stakeholders and study sites.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, and scientific documentation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance or suitability determination.
  • Work Environment:
    • This position is performed in a professional office or hybrid/remote environment supporting federal public health programs. The incumbent must be able to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, attend virtual and in-person meetings, and occasionally travel as required by the contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Science, or a related field. Experience supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other federal public health agencies.
  • Experience working with vaccine safety related projects or other large healthcare databases.
  • Experience coordinating project activities including Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, Data Use Agreement (DUA) execution, study documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience using statistical software such as SAS, R, Stata, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience supporting scientific manuscript development and peer-reviewed publications.

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000.
