Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with research agendas across multiple teams or projects.
  • Experience implementing core AI algorithms or concepts.
  • Experience in software engineering, technically involved in coding, code reviews, design discussions and reviews.
  • Experience with Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Generative AI.
  • One or more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories (such as Physical Review, AAAS, Nature and npj, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:
  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience leading multiple research efforts and influencing research direction.
  • 2 years of coding experience.

As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more.

As a Research Scientist, you'll also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects as well as from collaborations with research programs at partner universities and technical institutes all over the world.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) 25% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Work on Post training for Gemini Tool-use and Agents.
  • Author research papers to share and generate impact of research results across organizations and in the research community.
  • Contribute to research growth by sharing research trends and best practices within the community, reviewing academic papers, serving on program committees and grant panels, speaking at Google events or research conferences, or organizing research conferences and visioning activities.
  • Deliver full projects by defining the data structure, framework, design, and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation, while identifying timelines and securing resources needed.
  • Identify new and upcoming research areas by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators and own the long-term research strategy and plans to expand the impact of Google research.
