Job Description

The Research Scientist is responsible for the administration and operations of research. Primary responsibilities include development, regulatory oversight, and timely implementation of research studies consistent with Federal regulations.

Responsibilities

Research

  1. Ensures that appropriate leadership and resources are available and organized to facilitate staff education with regard to the research process.
  2. Stimulates, promotes and develops research interests and related productivity of evidenced-based practice and research projects.
  3. Develops and implements a research council.
  4. Ensures systems and processes for record maintenance.
  5. Participates in committees and councils to assist with the development of research projects to benefit the assigned program.


Collaboration and Partnership
  1. Collaborates with academic institutions, community agencies and health care institutions to develop research partnerships.
  2. Ensures effective communication and alignment of people and processes to effectively support research work.
  3. Coordinates and cooperates with Corporate Compliance, audit and privacy on all compliance issues and internal audit initiatives.


Financial
  1. Monitors and maintains research protocols to ensure budget and regulatory compliance.

Other Duties as Assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous research experience, including a record of scholarly output (including but not limited to published journal articles, book chapters, and/or conference presentations) and research program development. and Demonstrated leadership experience in working with a team of researchers and supporting personnel.
  • Education: PhD in Health Science or Nursing field
  • Special Skills: (1) working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including (bio)statistics and research design for health sciences investigations; (2) proficiency in protocol preparation, including a working knowledge of guidelines for the safe and ethical conduct of research with human subjects; (3) working knowledge of, or demonstrated willingness to learn, software for conducting, managing, and analyzing research (i.e., statistics and project-management software); (4) willingness to support and mentor faculty colleagues in Items 1-3.
